So…we’ve gotten some drone footage back from the tree lighting…
I’m into it!
It’s generally hard to capture the scale of how many buildings and lights are connected to the system.

The community has been preparing for weeks: hanging lights, decorating & volunteering!
Finally, it’s time!

So, it’s 9am and I get an unknown call. It’s Christine, a reporter from Fox6 News. And she’s looking to come out and do an interview with the East Troy Lights crew… immediately!
Thank you to FOX6 News Milwaukee for covering our behind-the-scenes work as we race the clock to save East Troy Lights before Santa’s arrival on Dec. 6.
We are getting closer but after rebuilding major displays, our crew is still pushing hard to get every light shining by Saturday!

Picture this: 50+ mph gusts and a 95% completed East Troy Holiday Lights tunnel. You can imagine what happened next. Actually, you don’t have to imagine – we have video!
We collectively felt a heart-sinking, “how are we going to come back from this?” moment.
We spent weeks building it with a dedicated crew of volunteers – countless hours, freezing fingers, problem-solving, teamwork – and in seconds, the wind undid it all. For a minute, it felt hopeless.
But then something amazing happened.
The community showed up.
That’s the real magic of the East Troy Lights!
Now we’re rebuilding, resetting, and trying to come back brighter than ever. There’s still lots to do (and repair!) as we race toward Santa’s arrival on Saturday, but we’re not giving up.

For weeks, the crew has worked tirelessly, preparing puzzles, gameplay & spooktacular rooms.
All for a crazy town takeover!
Although, I will say some of the rooms turned out pretty fantastic!

That is all.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to the crew below. Without them a lot of what happens in East Troy wouldn’t be possible!

So, one of my newbs has become a big fan of training AI models for object recognition. And he decided to help train a laser detection model.
After taking thousands of images, the results are in. It “mostly” works!
We’re using a phone with browser based AI model detecting the laser beams. Hopefully this will be faster to deploy for the Scavenger Games!
